Meet our experts

Paul Thomalla
Global Head, Payments Sales

Paul Thomalla, Global Head of Payments and Managing Director Payments Europe, is accountable for the development of Payments within Finastra and externally to understand, influence, and ultimately help lead the change in payments across the globe. Amongst other areas he has advised on the UK’s NPA, PS2 and PSD3, CRD5, the role of AI and Blockchain in Payments and how to regulate them. He has extensive knowledge of the changes in domestic payment policies around the world and why the change is required. Over the last 3 years he has met with over 500 Executives to advise and discuss the changes that digitalization will bring to Payments. Prior to Finastra Paul was ACI Worldwide firstly as the CEO and General Manager of Europe, Middle East and Africa, and then developing and running WW Corporate Relations.

Krishnan Iyengar
Managing Director, Sales, Payments

Krishnan Iyengar is Managing Director of Relationship Management at Finastra. In this capacity, Mr. Iyengar is responsible for the account management and sales functions across North America for Finastra. Prior to joining Finastra, Mr. Iyengar worked in several roles in the national risk and quality group at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), as a marketer on the derivative sales desk at Wells Fargo Bank, and in several leadership positions at, Inc. He holds a BA, and an MBA in Finance and Accounting from Rutgers University.

Chirine BenZaied-Bourgerie
Head of Innovation

Chirine BenZaied-Bourgerie is Head of Innovation at Finastra. She is responsible for intrapreneurship activities at Finastra, inspiring Finastra's 10,000 people to innovate, and on opening innovation activities at the banks, financial institutions, and the wider fintech ecosystem. Formerly, Chirine was New Venture Development Manager, managing fintechs and partnerships for, Finastra’s open development platform. Prior to that she spent more than 10 years in the capital markets industry, where she held different roles in engineering, model validation and product management.

Pedro Porfirio
Vice President, Sales, Treasury & Capital Markets

Pedro Porfirio leads the global field and customer engagement with capital markets customers and prospects. Based in London, Pedro drives the growth of the company’s entire capital markets business line spanning treasury, capital markets, and investment management. Pedro joined Finastra from Calypso Technology where he worked as Chief Product Officer, and brings over 25 years’ experience in banking and having set up and run sales and trading desks in both London and New York. Pedro holds an aerospace engineering degree from ITA in Brazil and an MBA from University of Michigan.

Anastasia McAlpine
Product Management, Trade & Working Capital Finance

Anastasia is a Trade and Working Capital specialist with over 9 years of experience in the industry. She is overseeing Finastra’s strategy and roadmap for Trade and Supply Chain Finance and is the Finastra Lead for the Trade Inclusion working group with the World Trade Board. Anastasia joined Finastra from Santander where as a Senior Product Manager for the Supply Chain Finance she supported Santander’s global investment-grade clients in Industrial, Telecom and Energy sectors. Previously, Anastasia worked at Barclays Bank and a UK based commodity trader focusing on areas of cash flow improvement and optimisation of supply chain. Anastasia holds a Master’s degree in Finance and Banking from the University of Leicester.

Veena Rao
Product Management, Corporate Banking

Veena is the Vice President & Business Head for Connected Corporate Banking and Fusion Corporate Channels at Finastra. She has over 25 years’ experience in financial services and banking technology. She started her career with India’s leading private sector bank, ICICI Bank, where she built skills across project finance, corporate banking, forex treasury and relationship banking functions. She moved over to Banking technology managing Presales for FLEXCUBE at Oracle Financial Solutions followed by a stint in HCL Technologies to launch the product incubation unit for banking. At Finastra, Veena has been instrumental in actively launching an ecosystem of fintech apps on to help banks harvest the potential of the fintech revolution and the open banking paradigm.

Jonathan McPhail
Principal Transaction Banking Sales, Corporate Banking

Jonathan McPhail is the global solution lead for Corporate Banking at Finastra and is a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and Finastra’s strategic global clients. He leads strategy for corporate banking, driving design of the next generation of corporate banking solutions which will radically advance digitalization of the customer lifecycle and bank processes. With over 20 years’ experience in the industry he is a commercial and corporate banking specialist with previous roles in institutional lending at Morgan Stanley and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Nitin Iyer
Senior Principal, Solution Consulting, Treasury & Capital Markets

Nitin Iyer is a Senior Principal, Solution Consulting, covering Finastra’s Fusion Risk solution and FusionFabric.Cloud platform. He has over 18 years’ experience in risk management and FinTech. He is actively involved in developing product go-to-market lifecycle including innovations in go-to-market strategies with both partnerships and ecosystems. In addition, Nitin has held various roles at Finastra from business analysis and product management to client services and account management.
