Annie Lennox to speak at World Trade Symposium 2017

London, UK, 22 May 2017 – Annie Lennox, OBE will deliver the opening keynote session for the second annual World Trade Symposium, co-organised by Misys and the Financial Times, which takes place in London on 6-7 June 2017.

Lennox, singer, songwriter, activist and philanthropist, will be in conversation with Clive Myrie, Presenter & Foreign Correspondent, BBC News. They will explore the issue of inequality across the world, the importance of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the activism, including in global trade, needed to bring around the necessary changes.

“The World Trade Board is committed to taking an active role in improving people’s lives by connecting trade, finance and technology to enable long-term growth and prosperity,” said Simon Paris, Co-chair of the World Trade Board and President at Misys. “The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals are key to ending poverty and reducing inequality and we are delighted that Annie Lennox, a towering figure in the world of music, women’s rights and equality, can join us at the World Trade Symposium to share her views.”

The World Trade Symposium, co-organised by Misys and the Financial Times, provides a forum for influencers, global leaders and subject matter experts from not-for-profit organisations, banks, corporates and industry bodies to come together and explore how trade can help increase financial inclusion and reduce poverty worldwide. The theme of this year’s Symposium is: transforming trade – driving financial inclusion through globalisation and digitisation.
