Stephen Peters

Stephen Peters is a payments technology executive, computer scientist and strategic adviser with more than two decades of experience shaping financial infrastructure across Asia-Pacific. He has held senior leadership roles at FIS Global and Clear2Pay, including Head of Enterprise Payment Solutions, Head of Products and General Manager for Asia-Pacific.

Stephen has worked with Tier-1 banks on the design and modernisation of real-time payments, transaction banking, SWIFT, RTGS and ACH platforms. His experience spans technology architecture, product strategy, regulatory change and large-scale transformation across ASEAN, North Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

He is focused on the future of account-to-account payments and the convergence of payments, artificial intelligence and digital assets, including stablecoins, tokenised deposits, CBDCs, digital asset custody and next-generation treasury infrastructure.

Stephen is known for combining practical industry experience with a clear view of what must change. His perspective is deliberately forward-looking: challenging legacy assumptions, exposing where incremental improvement is no longer enough, and setting out credible pathways to a more intelligent, interoperable and resilient payments ecosystem. His work is grounded in delivery, but shaped by a conviction that the next era of payments will not be built through business as usual.
